Hong Kong Property: First 8 months see 809 registrations for second-hand public housing in Hong Kong, up about 16.2% year-on-year
In the first eight months of this year, Hong Kong recorded 809 registrations for second-hand public housing, an increase of about 16.2% compared with 696 in the same period last year, marking the second-highest level for the same period since records began.
Wang Pin-di, Director of Hong Kong Property Research Department, said that according to the comprehensive Land Registry data from the Hong Kong Property Information Research Department, in the first 8 months of this year, Hong Kong recorded 809 registrations for second-hand public housing (including the free market with premium paid and the secondary market without premium paid), an increase of about 16.2% compared with 696 cases in the same period last year, setting a record for the second-highest level in the same period since records began.
If the performance of second-hand public housing registrations in the first 8 months of this year is divided into three regions, Hong Kong Island recorded 68 second-hand public housing registrations, an increase of about 30.8% compared with 52 cases in the same period last year; Kowloon (including Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung) recorded 277 second-hand public housing registrations, an increase of about 18.9% compared with 233 cases in the same period last year; the New Territories recorded 464 second-hand public housing registrations, an increase of about 12.9% compared with 411 cases in the same period last year.
As for the ranking of estates by second-hand public housing registrations in the first 8 months of this year, Phase 2 of Tung Tau Estate in Wong Tai Sin topped the list with 37 registrations, an increase of about 37% compared with 27 cases in the same period last year; Cheung On Estate in Tsing Yi ranked second with 36 registrations, an increase of about 2.9% compared with 35 cases in the same period last year; Chuk Yuen North Estate in Wong Tai Sin ranked third with 35 registrations, an increase of about 12.9% compared with 31 cases in the same period last year.
