HKEX (00388) Chairman Carlson Tong said at an event that 109 companies have completed IPOs in Hong Kong so far this year, raising HK$366 billion, surpassing the full-year total of last year, while refinancing by listed companies also reached HK$560 billion. Tong said that many AI and biotechnology companies have come to Hong Kong for listing, and international companies are also using Hong Kong to expand into Asian markets. He said that next, HKEX will promote market innovation, optimize the listing regime, deepen international connections and expand its commodities business, build a multi-asset market, and at the same time closely align with national strategy and uphold Hong Kong's reputation as an international financial center.
Securities and Futures Commission Chairman Wong Tin-yau also said at the same event that Hong Kong's first five-year plan and the new Policy Address strengthen the three major functions of offshore renminbi business, international asset and wealth management, and risk management, and that the SFC will issue a statement within two days setting out its strategic action agenda. He stressed that the SFC serves as both a market guardian and a development facilitator, and that safeguarding integrity and investor trust is what enables high-quality development, calling on the industry to work in unison with the government and regulators.
