On September 16, Leapmotor held its 2026 Tech Day in Huzhou, Zhejiang. At the launch event, the company unveiled a vehicle architecture for an entirely new vehicle category the Four-Leaf Clover 5.0 electrical/electronic architecture along with three core technologies: LWM Leapmotor World Model intelligent driving, MM-i multi-mode hybrid electric drive, and CTC 3.0 high-voltage/low-voltage integrated battery, showcasing the systematic innovation capabilities built up over Leapmotor's 11 years of full-domain in-house R&D.
It is understood that on September 16, Leapmotor held its 2026 Leapmotor Tech Day in Huzhou, Zhejiang. At the launch event, the company unveiled a vehicle architecture for an entirely new automotive category - the Four-Leaf Clover 5.0 electrical and electronic architecture - plus three core technologies: LWM Leapmotor World Model intelligent driving, MM-i multi-mode hybrid electric drive, and CTC 3.0 high-voltage and low-voltage integrated battery, showcasing in a concentrated way Leapmotor's systematized innovation capabilities accumulated over 11 years of full-domain in-house R&D. In fact, from annual sales of a thousand vehicles in 2019 to current monthly sales of over 100,000 vehicles, Leapmotor has entered the top three among Chinese new energy vehicle brands and ranks among the top four global new energy vehicle brands by sales. Steady growth every year is not accidental, but is driven by technological innovation leading to product leadership. With new technologies released every year, platform-based capabilities allow the entire product lineup to carry the most cutting-edge, segment-leading configurations at the best timing, creating products with higher configurations, better quality, and good value within the same class. At the launch event, Leapmotor founder, chairman, and CEO Zhu Jiangming said: "Leapmotor will not innovate for the sake of showing off technology. Every innovation released this time will be implemented in next-generation products, so that good technology is accessible to everyone." LEAP5.0 technology is Leapmotor's all-new-generation architecture after LEAP1.0-4.0, covering both the physical and electronic levels, and its core was created for all-new-category products under Leapmotor's second brand. On the physical level, the new mobile space architecture breaks the traditional automotive layout inertia of horizontal, longitudinal, and vertical arrangement, achieving XYZ three-directional expansion: through the integration of a super air-conditioning all-in-one unit and the rear placement of the powertrain, cabin length space increases by 19%; through the upright layout of shock absorbers and a small shock tower package, front-row leg width increases by 37.5%; through a native integrated intelligent pop-up roof and a completely flat low floor, cabin height increases by 63.7%. The three-directional expansion ultimately achieves a space utilization rate of over 100%, with spatial layout that can be flexibly combined, creating a true "third mobile space." On the electronic level, the Four-Leaf Clover 5.0 central domain control architecture uses 48V power supply throughout the vehicle, full-vehicle Ethernet, and vehicle-cloud AgentOS to achieve true central integrated control, with other domain controllers only performing execution, shortening the vehicle wiring harness to the industry's shortest at 500 meters. To put it in plain terms: 48V power supply gives the vehicle more ample power, lighter wiring, and lower losses; full-vehicle Ethernet is equivalent to laying a "high-speed network" for the entire vehicle, serving as the foundation for full-vehicle OTA, cabin-driving integration, and vehicle-cloud collaboration, and also determining how long a vehicle can continue to be upgraded in the future. Only by combining breakthroughs in physical space with the evolution of electronic intelligence can a space with "over 100% space utilization" also possess high-level intelligent experience. It is reported that all-new-category products under the second brand based on this architecture will feature freely combinable forms such as dining room, cinema, bedroom, and coffee bar, and will be unveiled next year. LWM World Model intelligent driving technology moves vehicles from "memorizing road conditions according to rules" to "truly understanding road conditions"; with algorithmic innovation that does not rely on BEV perception, does not depend on rule-based code, and uses lidar as safety redundancy, combined with cloud-based large models, it can achieve fleet-level collaborative evolution. Its algorithmic innovation has entered the first tier, and the world model has been extended to models under 100,000 yuan. Zhu Jiangming said on site that as of the end of August, Leapmotor had delivered 350,000 vehicles equipped with lidar versions. Leapmotor promises: all lidar-version users will receive a free upgrade to the World Model intelligent driving version and lifetime free use. Among them, for the earliest batch of more than 10,000 users, due to inconsistent hardware platforms, algorithm migration and reconstruction alone required at least 50 million yuan in investment, yet Leapmotor still chose to complete the upgrade at any cost. Relying on algorithms and systematized efficiency, Leapmotor has further extended high-level assisted driving capabilities to models under 100,000 yuan, including the A10, making it accessible to the mainstream public as well. MM-i multi-mode hybrid electric drive technology achieves three industry firsts, representing Leapmotor's official entry into the plug-in hybrid track, thus completing a full powertrain layout of "pure electric + extended range + plug-in hybrid." MM-i's three major firsts restructure the system: first, a generator reuse architecture, allowing the generator to also participate in driving when needed, with dual motors outputting together, achieving a system peak power of 206kW, 28% higher than the same class; second, coaxial integration of dual electromagnetic clutches, with the entire electric drive weighing only 106kg, 40% lighter than the same class, and an overall width of only 313mm, 25% smaller in volume than the same class, allowing high-performance hybrid coverage from A0 to D segment; third, intelligent dual-motor control, seamlessly switching between multiple operating conditions and modes, shortening shift time from 400ms to 150ms, with no power interruption throughout, achieving drive efficiency of 91.5% and power generation efficiency of 94.4%, the highest in the industry. This capability was not achieved overnight. Since the mass production of its first extended-range model in 2022, Leapmotor has cumulatively launched 7 extended-range models. Combined with full-chain in-house R&D of the electric drive system, MM-i's structural form comes from original co-creation within the team and breaks through the patent barriers of traditional overseas clutches. Leapmotor judges that globally, direct-drive plug-in hybrids still have a 5-10 year life cycle, especially in regions with inconvenient charging conditions, where users need better hybrid solutions. CTC3.0 high-voltage and low-voltage integrated battery technology, with an innovative approach, eliminates the independent low-voltage battery that the industry has used for a century, integrating low-voltage battery functions into the large battery pack. Low-voltage battery capacity increases 7-fold, with lifetime maintenance-free operation, saving over 2,000 yuan in vehicle use and maintenance. At the same time, the patent for this technology is open-sourced to the entire industry, reducing battery pollution and helping environmental protection. Leapmotor is the domestic automaker that was the earliest to achieve mass production installation of CTC and has the largest cumulative installation volume. After three generations of technological iteration and verification through more than one million vehicle installations, it has fully mastered the key links of the entire CTC chain, which is also the confidence behind its courage to innovate and provide lifetime battery warranty to first owners. At the launch event, Leapmotor also announced that it would open-source patents related to high-voltage and low-voltage integrated CTC batteries to the entire industry. According to estimates, if this technology is widely applied in the industry, it can reduce the use and disposal of more than one million low-voltage batteries each year. In addition, at the launch event site, Leapmotor also displayed a number of in-house technology reserves. For example, the fully self-developed Leapmotor humanoid Siasun Robot&Automation has entered the testing stage, with underlying capabilities such as motors, controllers, batteries, perception algorithms, and computing platforms all independently mastered. It is being invested in on a small scale and actively exploring application scenarios that can be scaled up and have commercial value; the industry's first super-integrated air-conditioning all-in-one unit + 14-way valve control; a three-level hybrid transmission pure electric drive with comprehensive efficiency of 94% and torque exceeding 5,500 N.m; and in-house full-solid-state lidar, 8-million-pixel three-in-one camera, panoramic head-up display P-HUD, and other automotive optical achievements. Behind one vehicle architecture for the second brand, three core technologies, and multiple reserves is the systematized capability accumulated from Leapmotor's 11 years of persistence in full-domain in-house R&D and deep self-manufacturing. At present, Leapmotor has built 18 parts factories, with in-house-developed and self-manufactured parts covering 65% of vehicle cost, and a platform commonization rate of 90%; since 2026, monthly deliveries have continuously exceeded 100,000 vehicles, ranking among the top three Chinese new energy vehicle brands, and it has achieved profitability for three consecutive half-year periods; products have entered 45 countries and regions worldwide, with cumulative sales exceeding 1.8 million vehicles. Overall, Leapmotor Tech Day showcased the company's R&D achievements over many years and also proved to the market that technology and innovation are the underlying answer to all of Leapmotor's achievements. Leapmotor has 10 models on sale, covering A0-D segments, SUVs and sedans, and multiple powertrain routes including pure electric and extended range, forming a product matrix of "higher configuration and better value within the same class." With strong product strength, monthly deliveries have continuously reached the 100,000-vehicle level, ranking among the top three Chinese new energy vehicle brands and among the top four global new energy brands by sales. Users have cumulatively driven more than 50 billion kilometers, equivalent to about 1.25 million laps around the Earth's equator, with user scale and reputation continuing to accumulate. In overseas markets, it continues to lead among new forces, with more than 1,000 overseas stores. After two years of going overseas, cumulative exports have exceeded 200,000 vehicles, and monthly export volume ranks firmly at the top among new forces. Leapmotor has achieved profitability for three consecutive half-year periods, with net profit attributable to shareholders of 210 million yuan in the first half of 2026, making it one of the few new energy vehicle companies that has achieved simultaneous scale growth and profitability improvement. Without chasing short-term concepts or avoiding technical difficulties, and instead sinking resources into underlying R&D and product experience, Leapmotor follows a long-termist path. Zhu Jiangming said: "Technology and innovation are the confidence of an enterprise facing the future, and also its most core competitiveness." The innovations released at this Tech Day will continue to be implemented in next-generation products, driving Leapmotor to accelerate toward becoming a respected world-class smart electric vehicle company.
