On Tuesday, Eli Lilly (LLY.US) rose 1.69%, closing at $1,176.23. In terms of news, Eli Lillys Elecsys Phospho-Tau (217P) Plasma blood test, developed in collaboration with Roche, has received FDA approval in the United States. This test is intended to assist in determining whether individuals aged 55 and older, who exhibit symptoms of cognitive decline, have Alzheimers disease-related pathological changes in brain amyloid plaques. The test utilizes electrochemiluminescence immunoassay and is compatible with Roches Cobas 402 and e801 fully automated immunoassay platforms, requiring only 60 microliters of EDTA plasma sample, with a testing time of about 18 minutes. Its reported that this diagnostic technology addresses the real pain points in Alzheimers disease treatment. Currently, anti-amyloid drugs require precise screening to identify patients with amyloid pathology in their bodies. The ability to implement low-cost, standardized, and scalable screening methods directly determines the patient coverage for related drugs and will also impact the process of promoting the next generation of Alzheimers disease medications to earlier stage populations.
