Lilly (LLY.US) has launched a new Phase III clinical trial for a Class 1 new drug in China.
The Insight database shows that Brenipatide is the world's first GLP-1 product to enter Phase III clinical trials for depression.
On August 17, the clinical trial registration and information disclosure platform displayed that Eli Lilly (LLY.US) has registered a Phase III clinical study of Brenipatide injection in adult participants with depression. The Insight database shows that Brenipatide is the world's first GLP-1 class product to initiate a Phase III clinical trial for depression.

Brenipatide is a dual agonist of GLP1R/GIPR under development and is the second GLP-1/GIP dual-target new drug from Eli Lilly following terzepatide, currently at the highest global progress in Phase III, yet to be approved for market release. In addition to depression, Eli Lilly has also initiated two Phase III studies of Brenipatide targeting alcohol use disorder. Furthermore, Eli Lilly is expanding into other indications, including bipolar disorder, asthma, nicotine dependence, schizophrenia, diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome, constipation-predominant irritable bowel syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and more.
