AMD (AMD.US) steadily vying for the AI chip market! After teaming up with Microsoft Corporation to expand their cooperation, they have also secured a multi-billion dollar deal with Anthropic.

AMD (AMD.US) and Anthropic announced on Wednesday that they have reached a deal worth billions of dollars for chip and investment cooperation. According to the agreement, Anthropic will begin deploying up to 2 gigawatts (GW) of AMD MI450 artificial intelligence accelerators in the first half of 2027. The artificial intelligence model developer, Claude, will utilize AMD's Helios rack-level solution, which includes MI455X GPU, platforms with AMD EPYC Venice CPU, Pensando networking solutions, and ROCm software. Additionally, AMD stated that they will invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic in the future. AMD Chairman and CEO, Su Zifeng, said in a statement, "We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Anthropic and deploy AMD Helios at a gigawatt scale. This collaboration will combine Anthropic's leading position in cutting-edge artificial intelligence with AMD's full strength in high-performance computing. Together, we will accelerate the large-scale application of artificial intelligence and drive Helios to become a significant platform for the next generation AI infrastructure." Anthropic Co-founder and Chief Computing Officer, Tom Brown, said, "Access to computing resources is crucial in keeping Claude at the forefront of artificial intelligence and meeting customer demands. By collaborating with AMD across the stack, we are ensuring access to the computing power needed and optimizing for training and running Claude models. Running across diverse hardware platforms allows us to match the most suitable hardware for different workloads." Furthermore, media reports indicate that AMD is discussing providing financial support for Anthropic's future data center leasing. Su Zifeng revealed that AMD has also signed an engineering cooperation agreement with Anthropic. Under this agreement, AMD will use Anthropic's Claude artificial intelligence model to enhance its chip technology performance. It is worth mentioning that AMD recently expanded its chip collaboration with Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US). AMD announced that they have expanded their collaboration with Microsoft Corporation to include AMD's GPU, CPU, Network-1 Technologies, Inc., and software ecosystem, and will further integrate related technologies on the Microsoft Corporation Azure platform. Microsoft Corporation will deploy AMD Helios rack-level solution to provide cutting-edge AI model inference capabilities for itself and its AI customers, supporting Azure AI services. The two companies stated that Microsoft Corporation Azure will also add two new series of virtual machines (VM) based on AMD EPYC CPUs and expand the deployment scale of Pensando data processing units (DPUs). AMD stated that the Helios solution integrates Instinct MI455X GPU, AMD EPYC Venice CPU, Pensando Network-1 Technologies, Inc., and ROCm software into an open, integrated rack-level platform designed for large-scale AI training and inference tasks. Microsoft Corporation Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella, said, "Through our collaboration with AMD, we are leveraging AMD Helios to expand the Azure infrastructure product portfolio, providing customers with the performance, scale, and choice needed to build and run next-generation AI applications."
