In June, the turnover of foreign institutions in the interbank bond market was approximately 1.71 trillion yuan, with an average daily turnover of around 814 billion yuan.
On July 17, according to data from the central bank, as of the end of June 2026, foreign institutions held 3.20 trillion yuan in bonds in the interbank market, accounting for approximately 1.8% of the total custody volume of the interbank bond market. In terms of bond types, foreign institutions held 2.01 trillion yuan in government bonds, accounting for 62.8%, 0.75 trillion yuan in policy financial bonds, accounting for 23.4%, 0.28 trillion yuan in interbank certificates of deposit, accounting for 8.8%, and 0.16 trillion yuan in other types of bonds, accounting for 5.0%.
In June, 4 new foreign institutional entities entered the interbank bond market. As of the end of June, a total of 1200 foreign institutional entities entered the market, with 635 entering through settlement agent channels, 841 through the "Bond Connect" channel, and 276 entering through both channels.
In June, the trading volume of foreign institutions in the interbank bond market was approximately 1.71 trillion yuan, with an average daily trading volume of approximately 814 billion yuan.
