Data monitored by the State Post Bureau shows that as of June 30, this year, the volume of express delivery in China has exceeded 100 billion pieces, 9 days ahead of reaching a billion pieces in 2025. The resilience of the postal express delivery industry reflects the stable growth of the consumption market in China and the positive trend of economic development. Since the beginning of this year, various policies to promote consumption in China have continued to show results, with the consumption market maintaining stable growth, the consumption structure continuously optimizing, and driving the continuous expansion of the express delivery market. The postal express delivery industry focuses on "two promotions, three enhancements," accelerating the cultivation of new quality productivity, optimizing business structure, enhancing development resilience, improving operational efficiency, and taking solid steps towards high-quality industry development. The postal express delivery industry has consolidated the results of the construction of rural postal and logistic systems, promoting services to reach rural areas, ensuring network stability, and improving service utilization by the public. In Sanming, Fujian, the "passenger transport + express delivery + medicine" triple-link transportation model has revitalized the three-level network in the counties and townships, enabling remote mountain residents to receive medicines on the same day. In Cenxi, Guangxi, express delivery companies leverage the power of internet celebrities to launch a special plan for sending popular stewing soup ingredients, optimizing front-end services and reducing transit time. Since this year, nearly 20,000 packages of dried goods have been sent from south to north. In Sanmenxia, Henan, seasonal wild vegetables are shipped daily through express delivery channels, and express delivery companies have tailored a three-tier fresh protection plan, established a cold chain specialist line, with next-day delivery within the province and two-day delivery to key cities across the country. The deep integration of express delivery services with advanced manufacturing has established a new paradigm of intelligence, environmental friendliness, and integration. In Xinyu, Jiangxi, express logistics deliver fashionable shoes accurately to consumers nationwide and overseas, with an annual postal volume of 190 million pieces, creating about 30,000 new jobs. In Shangqiu, Henan, express delivery companies have set up collection points at steel tape manufacturing companies, opened direct delivery lines, and provided custom packaging and introduced a "collection and direct delivery" model to enhance efficiency by more than 1 day. In Tangshan, Hebei, express delivery companies have collaborated with packaging research departments to develop special ceramic postal packaging, implemented a "one category, one solution, one standard, one optimization" strategy, reducing the cost of packing materials by 15%, solving packaging damage issues, and achieving a win-win situation for protection and cost reduction. Improving the level of international delivery services and accelerating the improvement of the international delivery network are important directions for the industry's "Fifteen-Five" plan. Chinese express delivery companies are speeding up the layout of international delivery networks, strengthening information collaboration, resource sharing, and business coordination with cross-border e-commerce. Serving AI computing power, intelligent manufacturing, Siasun Robot & Automation, and other technology companies, they have launched a global technology deployment plan, providing end-to-end customized services. The Northwest Land-Air Intermodal Hub project has started construction, combining with the layout in Southeast Asia to create an intermodal hub integrating air and road transport. The technical report project for "Express Electronic Waybills" proposed by China was successfully commissioned by ISO/TC 344/SC 2, becoming the first international standard project after the establishment of the Express Service Standards Committee, signaling the comprehensive start of internationalization work for express service standards. Efficient governance in the industry provides necessary support and assurance for high-quality development. Since the beginning of this year, the industry's regulatory standard system has continued to improve, and the level of enterprise compliance has steadily increased, making the foundation for safe development more solid. The modification and implementation of the "Interim Regulations on Express Delivery," as well as the mandatory national standard "Requirements for Restricting Excessive Packaging of Express Delivery," have made green practices the foundation for the high-quality development of the postal express delivery industry. Safeguarding the rights and interests of express delivery workers is steadily progressing. In Wuhan, Hubei, express delivery companies have signed a collective agreement for 2026 labor rules, implementing a "fixed salary + performance-based salary" system; in Dalian, Liaoning, 10 express delivery couriers have been named elite practical talents, enjoying resettlement subsidies. Technological empowerment injects new vitality into efficient governance. Express delivery companies provide AI assistants for frontline couriers, large-scale models are used in complex frontline scenarios such as finding lost items, and unmanned delivery vehicles continue to be applied, transporting parcels in more than 200 cities daily. The State Post Bureau issued the "Implementation Opinions on 'Artificial Intelligence + Postal Express Delivery'," outlining a roadmap to popularize intelligent terminals and smart applications by 2027 and fully implement them by 2030. Officials from the State Post Bureau stated that the postal express delivery industry serves production and consumption, online and offline, urban and rural areas, playing a leading, foundational, and strategic role in economic and social development. Currently, the industry is shifting its focus to enhancing quality and ensuring reasonable growth in volume. In the future, with continued implementation of policies to promote consumption and the gradual strengthening of new industry dynamics, the postal express delivery industry will further play a leading role in the logistics field, helping to smooth economic circulation and continuously inject momentum into high-quality economic development.
