Not just memory chips! NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) suppliers warn of shortages in multiple key components continuing until 2028.
In addition to memory chips, other key components of data centers are also facing shortages.
Wiwynn, the main manufacturer of servers for NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US), has warned that besides memory chips, other key components in data centers are also facing shortages. This could potentially slow down the global development of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and increase construction costs.
Wiwynn's chairman, Hong Lin-Ning, predicts that in the next three to five years, the demand for data center hardware will continue to be high as companies like Meta Platforms Inc. and Microsoft Corporation increase their capital expenditure. However, the battle for key components such as memory and network chips is driving hardware prices to historic highs. With major manufacturers continuing to expand production, it is difficult to predict when the shortages in the supply chain will ease.
During an interview on Thursday, Hong Lin-Ning stated, "The categories of components facing shortages each year are different, and the tight supply chain situation may not start to ease until the end of 2027 or 2028."
It is known that Wiwynn competes with Foxconn and Quanta Computer. Hong Lin-Ning often attends events called the "Trillion Dollar Banquet," which are routine dinners held when NVIDIA Corporation CEO Jensen Huang visits Chinese Taiwanese partners, named for the total market value of attending companies exceeding one trillion New Taiwan Dollars.
Hong Lin-Ning revealed that currently over 80% of Wiwynn's revenue comes from American customers. In the coming years, the United States will be the company's focus for expansion, although she did not disclose specific investment amounts.
Hong Lin-Ning also mentioned that Wiwynn's first factory in El Paso, Texas has officially started production, with plans to build three more factories within the next two years. She added that the company has ensured an adequate power supply, which is crucial for assembling AI server racks in Texas.
