PATEO (02889) issued an announcement to integrate the company's advantages in the smart car industry with the research and development strength of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Artificial Intelligence Operating System Research Institute (Shanghai Jiao Tong), to jointly promote the innovation, transformation, and application of the open-source Hongmeng smart system. The company and Shanghai Jiao Tong signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement on April 10, 2026. Both parties will deepen collaboration through the integration of industry, academia, research, and application, to jointly promote innovative breakthroughs in the field of smart systems based on OpenHarmony and build a fully autonomous and controllable smart innovation ecosystem. According to the framework agreement, the company will carry out the following strategic cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong: 1. Academic cooperation: Conduct cutting-edge academic research around the "OpenHarmony Smart System Project Management Committee (PMC)" and jointly apply for national key R&D projects, natural science funds, and other research projects. Jointly host theme academic seminars, technology salons, and annual forums on "OpenHarmony Smart System" to promote interdisciplinary dialogue between academia, industry, and research. Collaboratively train high-level talents for the OpenHarmony ecosystem, establish special topics and open funds, and encourage students to participate in open-source contributions and innovative practices. 2. Strategic synergy: Use OpenHarmony as the core infrastructure of the smart system to promote the industry standard construction of the "OpenHarmony Smart System Operation System." Collaboratively build native OpenHarmony solutions for scenarios such as Siasun Robot & Automation, smart cars, wearable devices, etc., integrating cloud-based cognition and edge-based real-time control. Based on the industrial resources accumulated by both parties in the field of smart systems, collaborate to promote joint native solutions and timely implementation in smart products. Based on the technological breakthroughs of the company in the field of smart systems based on OpenHarmony and the research advantages of Shanghai Jiao Tong in the field of cutting-edge computing, the two parties collaborate to create a fully autonomous and controllable smart innovation ecosystem, attracting more universities and companies to join the collaborative innovation network. Share industrial and policy resources and jointly seek special support from local governments and technology departments in the direction of OpenHarmony smart systems. 3. Technical research and development: Design a cooperative smart system architecture based on OpenHarmony's distributed capabilities to achieve efficient collaboration between cloud-based intelligence and edge-based control. Develop core algorithms focusing on real-time control, low-latency perception decision-making models, and a multi-device collaborative cognition framework based on the characteristics of the OpenHarmony system, studying VLA large models with world models and strong generalization capabilities. System integration: Establish a joint repository reference implementation of the OpenHarmony Smart System PMC code, covering core modules such as hardware abstraction, driver adaptation, distributed communication, and security frameworks. Collaborate to advance the optimization and innovation of OpenHarmony middleware in smart system scenarios, including distributed data management, task scheduling, device virtualization, etc. 4. Products and applications: Jointly develop a "brain-to-brain" smart prototype platform based on OpenHarmony to support the rapid development and deployment of devices such as Siasun Robot & Automation, smart bodies, etc. Collaboratively create native smart demonstrations of OpenHarmony for scenarios such as Siasun Robot & Automation, automotive and peripheral, production and manufacturing, etc. Promote the transformation of research results into products and jointly work with industry partners to bring commercially viable products with the characteristics of "OpenHarmony + smart system" to market. 5. Intellectual property and open collaboration: The ownership of jointly developed technical achievements will be determined by contribution ratio negotiation and will be prioritized for contribution to the OpenHarmony open-source community. In principle, patents, software copyrights, etc., formed during the cooperation will be applied in joint names, with specific matters addressed in supplementary agreements. Collaboratively maintain open-source cooperation rules to ensure that code contributions, document iterations, and community operations comply with OpenHarmony's open-source agreements and governance norms.
