On March 31, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced the financial position for the first eleven months of the current fiscal year (up to February 28, 2026). The total expenditure and income for the first eleven months of the fiscal year were HK$691.5 billion and HK$654.8 billion, respectively. After taking into account the proceeds from issuing government bonds of HK$148.9 billion and repaying government bonds principal of HK$49.6 billion, a surplus of HK$62.6 billion was recorded. The fiscal reserve stood at HK$716.9 billion on February 28, 2026. According to the revised budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 announced at the end of February 2026, a surplus of HK$2.9 billion is expected for the current fiscal year, and the fiscal reserve is projected to be HK$657.2 billion by the end of March 2026.
