One part of South Korea's largest car manufacturer Hyundai Motor's mid-term plan is to double its annual sales in the Chinese market.
South Korea's largest car company Hyundai Motor announced at its annual shareholders' meeting that one of the mid-term goals of the company is to double its annual sales in the Chinese market.
Jose Munoz, CEO of Hyundai Motor, stated that according to the plan, Hyundai Motor aims to achieve annual sales of 500,000 vehicles in the Chinese market in the mid-term period, which is more than double the current sales volume.
Munoz introduced that by 2030, Hyundai Motor will launch 36 new models in the most profitable North American market, each model including pure electric, hybrid, and gasoline versions. Currently, Hyundai Motor sells 25 models in the North American market, with 20 models sold in the United States.
Data shows that in 2025, Hyundai Motor Group sold 7.274 million new vehicles globally, a slight increase compared to 7.23 million in 2024, maintaining the third position globally for three consecutive years.
In 2025, Hyundai Motor's global sales reached 4.1382 million vehicles, a slight decrease of 0.1% year-on-year. Domestic sales in South Korea were 713,000 vehicles, an increase of 1.1% year-on-year, while overseas sales were 3.425 million vehicles, a slight decrease of 0.3% year-on-year. Notably, due to the strong performance of hybrid vehicles, Hyundai Motor's sales in the United States reached 901,700 vehicles, an 8% increase year-on-year.
Another brand, Kia Motors, achieved global sales of 3.1358 million vehicles in 2025, a 2% increase compared to the peak of 3.0893 million vehicles in 2024, setting a new historical high. In 2025, Kia's sales in China were 254,000 vehicles, an increase of 2.3% year-on-year. With the leading advantage of the industrial chain of Shanxi Guoxin Energy Corporation, China has become a crucial hub in Kia's global export map.
