The eighth meeting of the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee was held in Beijing.
On March 23, Assistant Minister of Commerce of China, Yuan Xiaoming, and Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Chan Mo-po, jointly chaired the eighth meeting of the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, on March 23rd, Assistant Minister of Commerce Yuan Xiaoming and Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region jointly chaired the 8th meeting of the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee. Paul Chan Mo-po stated that the national economic development has provided Hong Kong with vast opportunities and space, and Hong Kong is fully leveraging its unique advantages of being backed by the motherland and connecting with the world under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework. With the support of the Ministry of Commerce, the economic and trade cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong has yielded fruitful results. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government is willing to work with the Ministry of Commerce to further deepen economic and trade cooperation between the two regions.

The 8th meeting of the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee held in Beijing
On March 23rd, Assistant Minister of Commerce Yuan Xiaoming and Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region jointly chaired the 8th meeting of the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.
Yuan Xiaoming stated that 2026 marks the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan". Holding the Mainland and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee meeting at this time is of great significance in forming mutually beneficial cooperation consensus and further deepening economic and trade relations between the two regions. The Ministry of Commerce will intensify the implementation of the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) and expansion of opening up, support Hong Kong's integration into and service to the national development, support Hong Kong's participation in the Belt and Road Initiative and regional economic cooperation, and boost Hong Kong's economic development.
