Hong Kong Post: Major postage adjustments will be made starting from April 13th.
Hongkong Post announced that it will adjust the main postage rates starting from April 13. Overall, the postage increase for over ninety percent of local mail and regular mail in Hong Kong is within two cents; the postage increase for about ninety percent of airmail is within five cents.
On March 23, Hongkong Post announced that it will adjust the main postal rates starting from April 13. Overall, more than 90% of the postage rates for local mail and regular mail in Hong Kong will be increased by less than 20 cents, while around 90% of the airmail postage rates will be increased by less than 50 cents.
As for the adjustments to the basic level postage for delivering letters, the changes are approximately as follows:
Local mail in Hong Kong: The postage for 30 grams or less will be adjusted from the current 2.2 Hong Kong dollars to 2.4 Hong Kong dollars;
Airmail: The postage for 20 grams or less to mainland China and Taiwan will be adjusted from the current 3.7 Hong Kong dollars to 3.9 Hong Kong dollars, while the postage to other regions will be adjusted from 4.0 to 5.5 Hong Kong dollars to 4.2 to 5.8 Hong Kong dollars;
Regular mail: The postage for 20 grams or less to mainland China, Macau, and Taiwan will be adjusted from the current 2.8 Hong Kong dollars to 3.0 Hong Kong dollars, while the postage to other regions will be adjusted from 3.5 to 5.3 Hong Kong dollars to 3.7 to 5.6 Hong Kong dollars.
A spokesperson for Hongkong Post said that the company has always been committed to providing efficient and reliable postal services to citizens at reasonable prices. It is believed that the impact of this rate adjustment on citizens and the business community is very minimal.
The spokesperson also mentioned that with the development of technology, electronic communication has replaced traditional mail communication, and the business delivery market is very competitive, posing a great challenge to Hongkong Post's operations. Hongkong Post has been actively transforming and expanding its e-commerce mail business to increase revenue and control costs, in order to provide high-quality and accessible postal services to citizens.
