China Charging Alliance: As of the end of February, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in China reached 21.01 million, a year-on-year increase of 47.8%.

The China Charging Alliance announced the operation of the national electric vehicle charging and swapping infrastructure in February 2026. The operation of public charging infrastructure, as of the end of February 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (sockets) in China reached 21.01 million, an increase of 47.8% year-on-year. Among them, there were 4.834 million public charging facilities (sockets), an increase of 28.8% year-on-year. The rated total power of public charging facilities reached 2.29 billion kilowatts, with an average power of about 47.41 kilowatts; there were 16.176 million private charging facilities (sockets), an increase of 54.6% year-on-year, with the installed electricity capacity of private charging facilities reaching 1.41 billion kilovolt-ampere. The operation of public charging infrastructure in provinces, regions, and cities, the top 10 regions of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Shanghai, Henan, Fujian, Anhui, Sichuan, and Hubei accounted for 65.8% of the public charging facilities built. The national charging volume mainly concentrated in provinces such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Fujian, Henan, and Shaanxi. The electricity flow is mainly for buses and passenger cars, with a small percentage for sanitation logistics vehicles, taxis, and other vehicle types. In February 2026, the total national charging volume was about 7.87 billion kilowatt-hours, a decrease of 2.12 billion kilowatt-hours compared to the previous month, an increase of 42.8% year-on-year, and a decrease of 21.2% from the previous month. The overall operation of charging infrastructure, from January to February 2026, the increment of charging infrastructure was 918,000, an increase of 44.8% year-on-year. Among them, the increment of public charging facilities was 117,000, a decrease of 53.8% year-on-year, and the increment of private charging facilities was 801,000, an increase of 110.4% year-on-year. As of the end of February 2026, the total number of electric vehicle charging infrastructure (sockets) in China reached 21.01 million, an increase of 47.8% year-on-year. Comparison between charging infrastructure and electric vehicles, from January to February 2026, the increment of charging infrastructure was 918,000, and the domestic sales of new energy vehicles were 1.126 million. Both the charging infrastructure and new energy vehicles continued to grow rapidly, with a ratio of increment of charging infrastructure to new energy vehicles being 1:1.2. The construction of charging infrastructure can basically meet the rapid development of new energy vehicles.
