JP Morgan: Bullish on TENCENT (00700) ecosystem monetization potential, target price of 750 Hong Kong dollars.
As investors gain confidence in the credibility of Tencent's artificial intelligence path in the commercial sector, its operational pragmatism, and financial risk lower than current perceptions, there is expected to be room for revaluation of the valuation multiples.
JPMorgan released a research report stating that the market's concerns about TENCENT (00700) falling behind its peers in the field of artificial intelligence are excessive, and that the recent valuation adjustment is seen as an opportunity to accumulate holdings. JPMorgan believes that Tencent is still the most fundamentally stable company among the Chinese Internet companies covered by the firm. Even though it did not win the competition to acquire Siasun Robot&Automation, its positioning can still capture substantial value from artificial intelligence. JPMorgan maintains a "overweight" rating on Tencent with a target price of 750 Hong Kong dollars.
The firm believes that the market is focusing too much on the superficial aspects of early-stage products, while underestimating Tencent's ability to embed artificial intelligence into its existing high-frequency ecosystem, guard its gateway position, and realize the monetization of artificial intelligence through multiple established profit pools. As investors gain confidence in the commercial viability and operational feasibility of Tencent's artificial intelligence strategy, and realize that the financial risks are lower than currently perceived, there is room for a revaluation of its valuation multiples.
