Macau: The average room occupancy rate in the hotel industry in January increased year-on-year to 91.6%.

According to data from the Macao Statistics and Census Bureau, the average hotel occupancy rate for guest rooms in January 2026 increased by 0.7 percentage points to 91.6% compared to the previous year.
According to data from the Macao Statistics and Census Bureau, in January 2026, the average occupancy rate of hotel rooms in Macao increased by 0.7 percentage points to 91.6% compared to the previous year. The occupancy rate of five-star hotels was 95.9%, an increase of 2.4 percentage points compared to the previous year; while the occupancy rates of four-star (85.2%) and three-star (85.7%) hotels decreased by 0.5 and 3.2 percentage points respectively. The number of guests staying in hotel establishments in January decreased by 1.7% to 1.236 million. Mainland Chinese guests (917,000) decreased by 5.3%, Hong Kong guests (125,000) increased by 2.1%, and international guests (127,000) increased by 26.6%. Among international guests, guests from South Korea (41,000), Thailand (10,000), Malaysia (9,000), and Japan (9,000) increased by 16.3%, 92.7%, 58.2%, and 11.0% respectively. In January of this year, there were 139,000 group tourists arriving, a decrease of 13.4% compared to the previous year. Mainland Chinese group tourists decreased by 25.2% to 104,000, while international group tourists increased by 45.8% to 25,000.
