Anthropic has released a new version of its most powerful artificial intelligence model, Claude Opus 4.6, mainly used for conducting financial research.
The software stock sell-off triggered by the Anthropic legal service tool has not yet subsided, as the company released a new version of its most powerful artificial intelligence model, Claude Opus 4.6, on Thursday, primarily used for financial research. It is claimed that the software can carefully examine company data, regulatory documents, and market information to generate detailed financial analysis that usually takes days for humans to complete. Opus 4.6 also aims to enhance a range of other work-related functions, including creating spreadsheets and presentations, as well as software development. Following the announcement, the stock prices of financial services companies plummeted, with FDS.US falling by 7%, and S&P Global, Inc. (SPGI.US), Moody's Corporation (MCO.US), and Nasdaq (NDAQ.US) also experiencing declines. In the past year, Anthropic and its competitor OpenAI have invested heavily in developing artificial intelligence tools to simplify a wide range of professional tasks from financial services to healthcare, aiming to attract more corporate clients and support their high valuations. Anthropic is currently in discussions for a new round of funding at a valuation of 350 billion dollars, while OpenAI is valued at a staggering 830 billion dollars. OpenAI also released an updated version of its artificial intelligence coding agent Codex on Thursday, aiming to further simplify the process of writing and debugging code, and to build complex games and applications. The developers of ChatGPT emphasize that the product's functions are not limited to software writing, but also cover a range of other related documents and presentation work, such as helping create slides and analyzing user data. With over 300,000 corporate clients, Anthropic has become a market leader with Claude Code, with companies using its models to simplify job responsibilities, especially in the field of computer programming. Anthropic recently expanded its business beyond coding, causing a stir on Wall Street. Anthropic quietly released a tool for automating specific legal tasks, leading to a trillion-dollar market crash this week, especially in some software stocks, as investors fear that these stocks may eventually be phased out. This product has become a barometer of concern for companies and services that may ultimately be disrupted by artificial intelligence. This legal feature is a plugin for Claude Cowork, an artificial intelligence agent that was released earlier this year in the form of a "research preview". Cowork rapidly caused a sensation among technology enthusiasts for its more intuitive application development, spreadsheet creation, and Beijing Vastdata Technology processing capabilities. Anthropic stated that Cowork was developed in just a few days, with most of the code written by Claude's own artificial intelligence. Scott White, the product manager for Claude's artificial intelligence model, stated that the company plans to focus on enhancing its capabilities in areas such as cybersecurity, life sciences, healthcare, and financial services. He said, "We will focus on these areas."
