Recently, the Cyberspace Administration of China, together with the National Medical Insurance Bureau, has cracked down on online false information related to centralized and bulk procurement of medicines. A number of accounts that spread misinformation, created anxiety, and misled the public have been lawfully dealt with. Some typical cases are as follows: 1. Fabricating false information, smearing the centralized procurement policy to attract traffic. Accounts such as "Cardiovascular XXX Director" and "Nursing Assistance X Senior" on Xiaohongshu, as well as "Medicine Circle XX" and "Finance Can XXX" on Douyin, fabricated false information about the quality of centrally procured drugs and consumables to attract traffic or edited and published videos related to centralized procurement found online, smearing the centralized procurement policy. The relevant accounts have been lawfully dealt with. 2. Inciting social emotions, creating public anxiety. Accounts like "Chengdu XXX" on Weibo and "Qiongbo XX" and "Bright Crystal XX" on Douyin distorted national policies, fabricated false information such as "Imported drugs collectively withdrawing from China," incited netizens to have oppositional emotions towards original and generic drugs. Some accounts aimed to create public anxiety about medication, guide the public to buy related health products, high-end medical insurance, or lead the public to purchase drugs on specific internet platforms. The relevant accounts have been lawfully dealt with. 3. Deliberately associating non-centrally procured products with centralized procurement, misleading the public. Accounts like "Spicy XXX" and "Writing in the Music Score XX" on Douyin, "Handsome Bone Carver XX" and "Biu AX" on Xiaohongshu, "Bianshan Ban XX" and "Xiao Tu Gen XX" on Weibo, posted claiming that some medical equipment such as medical gloves, IV bags, and indwelling needles are of poor quality to attract fans' attention and ride the wave of centralized procurement traffic, when in fact the products they reflect are not centrally procured products, damaging the credibility of centralized procurement. The relevant accounts have been lawfully dealt with. The centralized procurement policy of pharmaceuticals and medical consumables is related to the vital interests of the masses. Fabricating and spreading false information about medical procurement will be severely punished. The Cyberspace Administration and the Medical Insurance department remind the public to rationally, objectively, and scientifically view the work of medical procurement, not to spread rumors, believe in rumors, or create a clean online space together.
