Ministry of Commerce responds to EU investigation of Chinese wind power companies: Urges European side to immediately correct erroneous practices and use FSR unilateral investigation tool with caution.
The Chinese side has always advocated resolving differences through dialogue and consultation, and opposes politicizing and securitizing economic and trade issues. We urge the European side to correct its erroneous practices, cautiously use unilateral trade investigation tools, and create a fair, just, and predictable market environment for China-EU cooperation. China will closely monitor developments and take necessary measures to firmly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
Recently, the European Commission announced that it has initiated an in-depth investigation into Chinese wind power companies under the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR). In response, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce stated that this move is clearly targeted and discriminatory, and China is highly concerned and strongly dissatisfied with it. The European side's investigation into "foreign subsidies" is generalized, lacks evidence for filing a case, and lacks transparency in procedures, typical of using the name of "fair competition" to practice "protectionism". In January 2025, after an investigation, the Ministry of Commerce legally determined that the European side's actions constituted trade and investment barriers. The European side not only failed to correct this but also continued further along the wrong path.

We urge the European side to immediately correct its wrong practices, exercise caution in using unilateral investigation tools under the FSR, and create a fair, just, and predictable market environment for China-EU cooperation. China will closely monitor developments and take necessary measures to resolutely defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
