According to reports, the global ride-hailing and delivery platform Uber Technologies, Inc. (UBER.US) is considering acquiring the parking application platform SpotHero. This platform allows users to find and book parking spots in major cities in advance. If this acquisition goes through, Uber Technologies, Inc. will be able to expand its parking services business, complementing its existing ride-hailing business. The Chicago-based parking reservation platform SpotHero has raised approximately $118 million in multiple rounds of venture funding, with the most recent being a $50 million Series D funding led by Macquarie Capital in 2019. Based on its business momentum, SpotHero had previously partnered with Uber Technologies, Inc. in late November 2023 to help the latter launch the point-to-point car-sharing service Uber Carshare in the North American market. However, this service ceased operations in September 2024.
