PLAYMATES TOYS (00869) announced that, according to the current licensing agreement signed between Viacom Media Networks as the licensor and the group's wholly-owned subsidiary PLAYMATES TOYS International Limited ("PICL") as the licensee, PICL has been granted the rights to design, manufacture, distribute, and sell "Ninja Turtles" products ("licensed products"). Since October 2025, the two parties have been negotiating the renewal of the licensing agreement. However, PICL has recently received formal notification from the licensor that the licensing agreement will not be renewed after it expires on December 31, 2026. As a result, PICL's rights to sell licensed products will terminate on December 31, 2026, and its rights to dispose of licensed product inventory will terminate ninety days after the agreement expires.
According to the company's information, sales revenue from licensed products accounted for approximately 8%, 13%, 77%, 47%, and 36% of the group's total revenue for the years ending December 31, 2021, December 31, 2022, December 31, 2023, December 31, 2024, and the six months ending June 30, 2025, respectively.
After the expiration of the licensing agreement, the group will continue to search for and evaluate potential licensing opportunities that align with its strategic considerations, and will continue to focus on developing and managing existing product lines, including but not limited to "Power Rangers," "MonsterVerse," and "Winx."
