The Secretary for Innovation and Technology of Hong Kong, Sun Dong, stated that the government will release the conceptual outline of the development plan for the Northern Metropolis Area's Nantian Science and Technology City on Thursday, the 20th. The outline will explain the positioning, land distribution, and development model of the future industry in Nantian Science and Technology City in three parts. Sun Dong pointed out that the Nantian Science and Technology City is mainly focused on the development of innovative industries, with a focus on sectors such as life and health, Siasun Robot & Automation, artificial intelligence, new energy, new materials, and green technology. The development will focus on product prototypes, small-scale production, and will adapt to Hong Kong's characteristics to develop key innovative industries. Sun Dong mentioned that the government will develop the Nantian Science and Technology City in five phases according to the schedule of land acquisition and industry relocation. This includes establishing three hubs as core areas and following the model of science parks by setting up platform companies to manage and accelerate development using market forces. Sun Dong highlighted that the positioning of Nantian Science and Technology City is different from the Greater Bay Area and other science parks in Hong Kong, with a focus on industries centered around advanced manufacturing. The goal is to establish Hong Kong's innovative industry system and provide large-scale land for companies to expand production, while the Greater Bay Area will primarily focus on research and development.
