In an event, Eddie Yue, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), mentioned that the FinTech 2030 strategy focuses on four strategic pillars, namely data, artificial intelligence, resilience, and tokenization - abbreviated as DART. The aim is to lead Hong Kong towards the era of FinTech 3.0.
Eddie Yue, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, mentioned during an event that the Financial Technology 2030 strategy focuses on four strategic pillars, namely Data, Artificial Intelligence, Resilience, and Tokenization - collectively known as DART, aiming to lead Hong Kong into the era of Financial Technology 3.0.
He pointed out that currently more than three-quarters of banks have deployed or tried AI solutions, with applications ranging from risk management, credit assessment to customer interaction. The authorities are advancing high-impact AI application scenarios through an upgraded version of generative AI sandbox.
He reiterated that tokenization will continue to be a priority for the authorities. Currently, through Project Ensemble, the authorities will explore expanding to a wider range of financial applications, connecting the local industry with global partners. The next phase of the Ensemble pilot will allow for the trading of tokenized deposits and digital assets for real value.
In terms of data, he mentioned that in the coming years, commercial data access will be further expanded, including government data sources, and collaboration with the industry to develop more data analysis capabilities and practical application scenarios. At the same time, through cross-border credit information exchanges, building a cross-border data ecosystem that is interconnected and trustworthy. Additionally, the authorities are strengthening the resilience of core financial market infrastructure, with platforms like Faster Payment System expanding coverage and capabilities.
