The Hong Kong government is currently promoting the construction of Hong Kong's first large-scale electric vehicle battery recycling facility, which is expected to be operational in the first half of 2026 at the EcoPark. This facility will convert retired local batteries in Hong Kong into recycled black powder, which will be supplied to mainland China and surrounding areas, promoting the development of the electric vehicle battery recycling industry.
On September 17, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu delivered the "Chief Executive's 2025 Policy Address" at the Legislative Council. The address emphasized the building of a new energy industry chain in Hong Kong and the promotion of the development of electric vehicle battery recycling industry. The Hong Kong government is currently promoting the first large-scale electric vehicle battery recycling facility in Hong Kong, which is expected to be operational in the first half of 2026 at the EcoPark. This facility will transform retired batteries in Hong Kong into recycled black powder for supply to mainland China and surrounding areas, promoting the development of the electric vehicle battery recycling industry. It is understood that the facility mentioned above is the first power battery treatment plant being constructed by ENVISION GREEN (01783) in Hong Kong, with a designed capacity to meet the electric vehicle battery treatment needs of Hong Kong's 2035 plan. The facility will not only serve the local market in Hong Kong but also radiate to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Southeast Asia, becoming the core hub of ENVISION GREEN's global battery recycling service system. It is worth noting that as the global peak of retired power batteries approaches, ENVISION GREEN's business layout is experiencing multiple catalytic factors, and the future performance growth in the coming years may already have a high degree of certainty. The company has signed strategic agreements with leading enterprises such as Gotion High-tech (002074.SZ) and Jinko Solar (688223.SH), locking in the value of future retired battery disposals exceeding 30 billion RMB. In addition, the company's initiative of the "Global Lithium Battery Recycling Network Platform" aims to build a lithium battery recycling network covering the four continents of the world through globalization, digital traceability, and open cooperation and plans to achieve a recycling capacity of 120,000 tons per year by 2030. As a Hong Kong enterprise model of successful transformation from traditional industry to green technology, ENVISION GREEN is expected to become a key infrastructure for Hong Kong's green circular economy with its leading recycling technology, deep ties with global mainstream new energy enterprises, and regional advantages covering the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, providing a stable and reliable closed-loop solution for battery materials in the regional new energy industry chain.
