Meta (META.US) is collaborating with Midjourney to incorporate AI aesthetics technology into future products.
Meta Platforms (META.US) has signed an agreement with the generative artificial intelligence (AI) laboratory Midjourney.
Social media giant Meta Platforms (META.US) has signed an agreement with the generative artificial intelligence (AI) laboratory Midjourney to use the startup company's "aesthetic technology" in their future models and products.
Meta's Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang stated that this technical collaboration will connect the research teams of both companies.
This move indicates that Meta is striving to differentiate itself by improving product visual effects and is attempting to boost its competitiveness through strengthening its AI development work. The company faces fierce competition from rivals such as ChatGPT manufacturer OpenAI and Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US).
Midjourney's software can generate images based on text prompts, and the company authorizes its tools to users through a subscription model.
Wang stated in an article on X, "Midjourney has left a deep impression on us." He also mentioned that in order to provide the best products, Meta is integrating top talents, a powerful computing roadmap, and collaborations with industry-leading enterprises.
Midjourney's image generation technology can help Meta accelerate creative features for users and marketers, potentially reducing content production costs and increasing user engagement.
At the time of this partnership, Meta is integrating its AI work into the "Super Intelligence Lab," which is a high-risk move after senior employees reportedly left the company, and their latest open-source Llama 4 model received a lukewarm response.
