Implementing JD.com's "1000 Chinese Brands Going Global" strategy, JD Industrial has reached a strategic partnership with Hangcha Group.
On July 3rd, JD Group (09618), affiliated industrial supply chain technology and service enterprise JD Industrial, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hangcha Group's Hangcha Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and Hangcha (Thailand) Company in Thailand, jointly promoting the development of local supply chains in Thailand.
On the eve of JD.com's 618 shopping festival, Liu Qiangdong, the founder and chairman of JD Group, revealed the strategy for JD's internationalization: local e-commerce, local infrastructure, local employees, local procurement, and local delivery. He stated that the goal is to help 1,000 Chinese brands successfully expand overseas.
On July 3, JD Industrial, a subsidiary of JD Group (09618), signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hangcha Group's Hangcha Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and Hangcha (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Thailand. Based on JD Industrial's strategy for expanding its supply chain internationally and Hangcha Group's strategy for deepening its global industrial layout, the two companies will work together to promote the development of a local supply chain in Thailand. JD Industrial has officially become Hangcha Intelligent's "chief partner" in Thailand, and Hangcha (Thailand) will also join JD Industrial. JD Industrial will support Hangcha Group's business expansion in Thailand through local e-commerce and supply chain services, facilitate local delivery operations, and actively participate in the construction of Hangcha Group's manufacturing base in Thailand, which started in April this year. This partnership aims to serve Chinese businesses expanding into Thailand and local Thai companies. Hangcha Group will also invest resources to support JD Group's brand internationalization strategy, covering the Asia-Pacific region and more international sites.
Hangcha Group is China's largest and globally leading forklift R&D and manufacturing company, with a firm commitment to global development. Hangcha Group began expanding into overseas markets officially 10 years ago, and now has 18 overseas branches on five continents. While its traditional manual forklift and new energy lithium forklift products have seen sales exceeding 100,000 units overseas, the company has also upgraded its strategy in recent years by focusing on intelligent logistics and warehouse systems integration. Hangcha has successfully developed a complete range of products based on intelligent logistics equipment like AGV/FMR/AMR; AS/RS, conveyor lines, and four-way shuttle vehicles, and has received recognition in the Chinese market for its AGV forklifts. However, the overseas expansion of its intelligent products is still in the early stages, and faces challenges in promoting traditional forklifts and new energy lithium forklifts abroad. For example, in the Thai market, the lack of a professional B2B e-commerce channel hinders Chinese enterprises' market expansion due to slow and inefficient processes. This cooperation between JD Industrial and Hangcha Group in Thailand is aimed at addressing the challenges faced by Hangcha Group in the country, by accurately matching JD Industrial's technology-enabled supply chain to the needs of large clients.
JD Industrial is a leading industrial supply chain technology and service company in China, providing digitized supply chain solutions to help improve efficiency and reduce costs for industrial enterprises. The company has accumulated deep understanding of the demands of manufacturing clients seeking to expand internationally. Leveraging innovation in technology, JD Industrial has built a "digital highway" for international businesses by digitizing products, procurement, fulfillment, and operations, shortening the procurement chain and enhancing cooperation between upstream and downstream partners. To date, JD Industrial has provided accompanying services for hundreds of Chinese enterprises expanding overseas, covering countries such as Indonesia, Hungary, Thailand, and Brazil. With diverse procurement scenarios across industries like automobile, electronics, metallurgy, and consumer goods, JD Industrial's expertise offers possibilities for Hangcha Group in its industrial expansion in Thailand.
Wang Zhenyu, Assistant to the President of Hangcha Group and Vice President of Hangcha Intelligent, said, "The Thai market was one of the first overseas markets that Hangcha entered. There is still untapped potential in terms of clients, such as Chinese companies setting up factories in Thailand and global enterprises establishing branches in the country. In the future, with the cooperation between us and JD Industrial, we will continuously gain new opportunities and touchpoints leveraging the strength of our respective brands." He stressed the need to accelerate the development of intelligent logistics and warehousing applications overseas, particularly in the Thai market, where the potential is vast but the challenge lies in reaching enough customers. He expressed hope that with JD Industrial's industry clients and technology-enabled supply chain, Hangcha's quality products can penetrate the Thai market quickly and effectively, serving more customers.
As China's manufacturing industry achieved an industrial added value of 40.5 trillion yuan in 2024, maintaining its position as the world's leader for the 15th consecutive year, overseas expansion has become a key strategy for Chinese companies to enhance their global competitiveness. Against the backdrop of intensifying domestic competition and escalating international trade frictions, international expansion is crucial for reshaping global competitiveness and integrating the entire industrial chain.
Li Zhenghao, General Manager of Hangcha Thailand, said, "The cooperation between JD and Hangcha is a strong collaboration. As leading companies in their respective fields, our partnership rooted in Thailand will radiate out to Southeast Asia, providing customers with a positive experience and helping Hangcha become the leading forklift brand in the Thai market."
A representative from JD Industrial stated that guided by the strategic goal of helping 1,000 Chinese brands expand internationally, JD is assisting brands in obtaining international compliance certifications, optimizing supply chains, and leveraging technology to support their overseas expansion. As a subsidiary of JD Group focusing on industrial supply chain services, JD Industrial will actively utilize technology-enabled supply chain services to support international growth, following the development path of "accompanying international expansion - local development - global integration," to establish global standards for China's industrial supply chain and provide more support to Chinese manufacturers, including Hangcha, in navigating the challenges of international expansion.
