US President Trump seems to be reassessing some of his more aggressive actions on trade and the Federal Reserve. "Since the market has regained a significant amount of lost ground, it can continue this momentum," said David Laut, Chief Investment Officer of Abound Financial. "Although the market's recovery will not be a straight line, seeing the market begin to price in the environment after the cancellation of tariffs is encouraging." Bets on the Fed cutting interest rates sooner than expected boosted the stock market. Federal Reserve Board member Waller said he would support interest rate cuts if tariffs lead to job losses. Meanwhile, Cleveland Fed President Mester said that if there is clear evidence of an economic downturn, officials could take action as early as June.
