In May to June 2024, the 10th, 25th, 75th, and 90th percentile of monthly wages of Hong Kong employees were HK$10,700, HK$14,800, HK$32,000, and HK$50,000 respectively, representing increases of 3.1%, 3.6%, 2.8%, and 3.1% compared to the corresponding figures in May to June 2023.
The median monthly wages of male and female employees, as well as employees in different age groups, education levels, occupational groups, and industry sectors have all recorded increases.
Hourly Wages
The median hourly wage of employees in Hong Kong in May to June 2024 was HK$82.9, an increase of 3.5% compared to the median wage in May to June 2023 (HK$80.1). The 5th, 10th, 25th, 75th, and 90th percentiles of hourly wages were HK$46.1, HK$49.3, HK$59.2, HK$131.5, and HK$209.3 respectively.
In May to June 2024, the median hourly wage for male employees was HK$93.3, while for female employees it was HK$73.2. Analyzing by age group, employees aged 35 to 44 had the highest median hourly wage (HK$97.2), followed by employees aged 25 to 34 (HK$86.7) and employees aged 45 to 54 (HK$83.9).
