The total value of residential building sale and purchase agreements in February was 23 billion Hong Kong dollars (a decrease of 13.9% from January, but an increase of 20.5% compared to February of the previous year).
The statistics for residential building sale and purchase agreements do not include transactions under schemes such as Home Ownership Scheme, Private Sector Participation Scheme, Tenants Purchase Scheme, unless the relevant units have reached the resale restriction period and the price difference has been compensated. The Hong Kong Land Registry also publishes the figures for building sale and purchase agreements in the past twelve months, annual trends in building sale and purchase agreements, and detailed figures for residential building sale and purchase agreements. Since land documents may be submitted for registration with the Hong Kong Land Registry within thirty days after the transaction date, the registration figures above generally reflect the property transaction figures from the previous month.
In February, there were a total of 338,037 searches conducted by citizens (an increase of 1.1% from January, and a 22.1% increase compared to February of the previous year). The search statistics include searches conducted by citizens through counter services, self-service terminals, and the Integrated Registration Information System online service.
