Canalys's latest report shows that the shipment of smartphones in Europe (excluding Russia) is expected to increase by 5% in 2024, marking the first growth after four consecutive years of decline. The demand for high-end smartphones remains resilient, and the entry of mid-range smartphones purchased during the pandemic into the replacement cycle has brought growth momentum to the market. Among the top manufacturers, Lenovo Motorola achieved the fastest growth with a 26% year-on-year increase.
Behind this achievement is Lenovo Motorola's precise insight into the demand in the European market, as well as its deep cultivation in technology innovation and localized operations. As the World Mobile Communications Congress (MWC) approaches in 2025, Lenovo Motorola is preparing to release more growth potential on the stage in Barcelona and Europe with forward-looking strategies and a range of innovative form factors and mobile terminals with significantly enhanced AI capabilities. Yang Yuanqing, Chairman and CEO of LENOVO GROUP, will deliver an important speech at the conference.
Canalys analyst Runar Bjrhovde stated that Lenovo Motorola achieved its historical market share high in Europe in 2024, thanks to its expansion throughout the region, particularly in the deep cultivation of open market channels. In the future, expanding physical sales networks and growing through telecommunication channels will be key to its continued development.
In the just released financial report for the third quarter of the 2024 fiscal year, Lenovo Motorola's brand revenue increased by 21% year-on-year, and it continued to increase its global market share for the sixth consecutive quarter. This success can be attributed to the popularity of its high-end models, which increased market share and raised the average selling price. According to external research data, Motorola's market share in overseas smartphone markets exceeded 6% in the most recent quarter, reaching a historical high for the same period. Regional expansion has been a key catalyst for this growth, with sales outside the US accounting for 44% of its revenue, a significant increase from 18% two years ago. Rapid growth in market expansion in China, the Asia-Pacific, and Europe-Middle East-Africa has also laid a more scalable business foundation for future sustainable profit growth.
In the most recent quarter, Lenovo Motorola showed the fastest growth among the top five manufacturers in the overseas smartphone market and maintained a leading position in certain regions, ranking in the top three in North America and Japan, and second in Latin America. By expanding into different price segments, and attracting Generation Z users with fashionable design, CMF (color, material, and finish) strategies, and personalized UI design, Lenovo Motorola is also continuing to expand in the Middle East market, achieving double-digit shipment growth in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Furthermore, with the high-end razr and Edge series, Lenovo Motorola is enhancing the moto AI functionality with Large Action Models. In the Chinese market, Lenovo's moto AI phone DeepSeek side personal grand model will also be released successively.
