On February 28th, the Hong Kong government announced the appointment of Liu Shiyun as the new chairperson of the Consultative Committee on the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hong Kong.
On February 28, the Hong Kong government announced the appointment of Liu Shiyun as the new chairman of the Consultative Committee of the Chinese Medicine Development Fund, replacing the outgoing Su Zhangde. At the same time, 16 new unofficial members were appointed, as well as 9 existing unofficial members were reappointed. The above appointments will take effect from March 1, 2025, for a period of two years.
The fund was officially launched in June 2019, as the first special fund established to support the development of Chinese medicine, aimed at enhancing the overall level of the Chinese medicine industry in Hong Kong to promote all-round and high-quality development. The fund has introduced various funding programs in different categories to meet the needs of different stakeholders in the industry, providing support in talent cultivation, quality improvement, market development, public education, and research innovation.
As of the end of January this year, the fund has approved over 8,800 funding applications, benefiting over 3 million industry professionals, citizens, and related institutions, including registered and listed Chinese medicine practitioners, Chinese medicine practitioners, Chinese medicine clinics, Chinese patent medicine manufacturers and wholesalers, Chinese medicine retailers and wholesalers, Chinese medicine-related associations, local universities, and education institutions.
