The number of available hotel rooms decreased by 7% to 43,000 rooms, with the average occupancy rate increasing by 3.9 percentage points to 89.8%. The average length of stay for guests remained at 1.6 nights.
In January of this year, there were 239,000 inbound tour group tourists, an increase of 79.2% compared to the previous year. Mainland Chinese tour group tourists increased by 88.4% to 217,000 people, while international tour group tourists also increased by 3% to 18,000 people, with Korean tour group tourists (11,000 people) increasing by 27.3%. On the other hand, the number of Macau residents purchasing outbound travel services through travel agencies increased by 18.5% to 38,000 people; while Macau residents traveling with tour groups increased by 12.6% to 8,000 people, with 7,000 of them going to mainland China.
At the end of January, there were a total of 147 hotel establishments providing accommodation services to the public, an increase of 6 establishments compared to the previous year. The number of available hotel rooms decreased by 7% to 43,000 rooms. The average occupancy rate of hotel rooms increased by 3.9 percentage points to 89.8%, with occupancy rates at five-star (92%), four-star (85.6%), and three-star (88.2%) hotels increasing by 4.8, 1.6, and 4.3 percentage points respectively.
The number of hotel guests in January decreased by 4.7% to 1.259 million compared to the previous year, mainly due to a decrease in guests at five-star hotels. On the other hand, the number of international guests (101,000) increased by 2.5%, with guests from Korea (35,000), Japan (8,000), and Indonesia (7,000) increasing by 12.4%, 4.5%, and 24.3% respectively, while guests from Malaysia (6,000), Thailand (5,000), and Singapore (5,000) decreased by 1.7%, 30.8%, and 6.3% respectively. The average length of stay for guests remained at 1.6 nights.
