The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers issued a document stating that the overall market product competitiveness index of passenger cars in January 2025 was 88.5, a decrease of 1.8 points compared to the previous month; looking at the three major sub-markets, the SUV and MPV markets increased by 0.9 and 12.6 points respectively, while the sedan market decreased by 4.3 points. Overall market product competitiveness index trend In January 2025, the wholesale sales of passenger cars were 2.101 million units, a slight decrease year-on-year and a significant decrease compared to the previous month; due to the earlier Chinese New Year, many consumers completed their replacement car purchase plans at the end of 2024, so the January car market was slightly weaker than the usual peak season, and with more than 4 days less effective selling time in January, the overall market heat index decreased by 0.6 points compared to the previous month; overall, the overall market product competitiveness index decreased by 1.8 points compared to the previous month.
