Due to activist vandalism disrupting the railway line connecting Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) factory with Berlin, the German railway company expects train transportation between Germany and Poland to remain disrupted until Friday. A spokesperson for the German railway company said on Thursday that there will be detours and cancellations of trains affecting regional rail traffic and connections to Poland. However, trains can still reach the Tesla, Inc. factory located in the town of Grnheide. An anonymous organization has claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that they set fire to a radio tower near a railway cable shaft on February 12. The organization claims their target was Tesla, Inc. and the German railway company because they cleared a protest camp near the factory in November. Environmental activists have been occupying tents and treehouses in the forest for months to protest the factory expansion. With the growing electric car market, the company saw a 59% drop in sales in Germany in January, indicating that CEO Musk's support for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party may not be helping his brand's development in Europe's largest car market. Tesla, Inc. has been a target of protests in Germany numerous times. Last year, a suspected arson attack on a nearby power pylon caused a region-wide blackout, leading Tesla, Inc. to temporarily halt production in Grnheide.
