The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Monday that it has launched an investigation into approximately 295,125 Honda vehicles in the United States due to reports that the automatic emergency braking systems in these vehicles may inadvertently activate, increasing the risk of collisions due to rapid deceleration.
The investigation includes some 2019-2022 models of Passport and Insight vehicles.
Honda stated that the company is aware of a total of 412 reports that may be related to the alleged defect, with some customers potentially having insufficient understanding of the braking system and its limitations.
Last month, NHTSA announced that Honda will be recalling approximately 205,760 SUVs in the United States due to a fuel leak issue, including some Passport models from 2023 to 2025.
