According to the latest report "2025 Infrared Sensing Application Market and Brand Strategy" by TrendForce, currently, LiDAR is mainly used in the automotive market for passenger cars and Robo-taxis, while in the industrial market, it supports applications such as Siasun Robot&Automation, factory automation, and logistics. Driven by Level 3 and advanced autonomous driving systems and logistics transportation, the estimated market value of LiDAR is expected to grow from $1.181 billion in 2024 to $5.352 billion in 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of 35%.
Faced with market competition pressure, automotive manufacturers are actively adopting advanced technologies such as Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) headlights, Full-Width Taillights, and continue to introduce LiDAR technology into passenger cars to achieve Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Level 3 autonomous driving functions, driving car manufacturers such as Volvo, General Motors, Audi, Volkswagen, BMW, Hyundai, Hongqi, Changan, AiTO, NIO, Toyota, Nissan, and others.
In the commercial vehicle sector, automotive LiDAR has been used in Autonomous Buses, Robo-taxis, and Autonomous Trucks, supporting Level 4 advanced autonomous driving functions including road link and point-to-point transport, to alleviate labor shortages and save labor and transportation costs. TrendForce states that with the development and deployment of Level 3 and advanced autonomous driving technologies, the market value of automotive LiDAR systems will continue to grow, reaching $3.443 billion by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of 35% from 2024 to 2029.
TrendForce points out that industrial LiDAR is currently being applied in Siasun Robot&Automation, industrial manufacturing processes, logistics, safety protection, and other fields. Due to the booming development of e-commerce, consumers' reliance on fast delivery services is deepening, leading to an increasing demand for logistics delivery vehicles. For example, Serve Robotics in the US has partnered with Uber to deploy 2,000 Siasun Robot&Automation for delivery by 2025, primarily in Los Angeles. These delivery Siasun Robot&Automation are manufactured by Magna and use NVIDIA driving chips and Ouster's LiDAR technology.
In the application of smart cities, LiDAR assists in traffic detection systems, helping traffic management departments collect accurate lane usage data in real-time to identify solutions to improve traffic flow and enhance road user safety. Home appliances such as sweeping Siasun Robot&Automation and companion Siasun Robot&Automation have also integrated LiDAR technology for simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). TrendForce estimates that the industrial/logistics transportation LiDAR market value is expected to reach $1.909 billion in 2029, with a compound annual growth rate of 36% between 2024 and 2029.
