CINNO Research's report states that the smart phone panel market experienced significant price fluctuations in 2024, with LCD and AMOLED panel technologies showing different development trends. Throughout the year, LCD smart phone panel prices experienced nine consecutive months of decline from January to September, with the price decrease converging and stabilizing in the fourth quarter, with a cumulative decrease of 10.4%/12.1% for a-Si/LTPS panels. At the same time, in the first half of the year, AMOLED panel prices continued to rise, and in the second half, rigid AMOLED panel prices remained stable after an initial increase, with a cumulative increase of 10.0%, while flexible AMOLED panel prices stabilized after a period of increase followed by a decrease in June, with a cumulative decrease of 5.9% for the full year. In January 2025, as the Spring Festival approaches, prices for panels of various technologies are expected to remain stable. For a-Si panels: Overall demand for a-Si panels remained high in January, with prices staying stable. However, with the significant increase in capacity from the CSOT/Tianma G8.6 production lines, market supply is increasing and competition is intensifying. It is expected that prices for new products about to enter production will slightly decrease compared to current levels. For LTPS panels: LTPS production lines have benefited from the new energy vehicle subsidy policies being introduced in various regions, leading to increased demand for upstream automotive panels. While some main production lines are operating at full capacity, LTPS panel prices are expected to stabilize in the short term. However, demand for panels in mobile applications remains low, and future LTPS panel prices may still face slight downward pressure. For AMOLED panels: Prices for rigid AMOLED panels remain stable, while demand for flexible AMOLED panels peaked in December as main production lines continue to operate at full capacity. After January, although demand has cooled down compared to previously, prices for flexible AMOLED panels are expected to remain stable. CINNO Research predicts that in January and February 2025, prices for existing a-Si panels will remain low without further decreases, LTPS panel prices will stabilize in the short term, and prices for rigid/flexible AMOLED panels will remain stable. CINNO Research's Chief Analyst, Zhou Hua, stated, "In 2024, the full year cumulative decrease for a-Si/LTPS panels was 10.4%/12.1%, the full year cumulative increase for rigid AMOLED panels was 10.0%, and the full year cumulative decrease for flexible AMOLED panels was 5.9%. As we enter January, with the Spring Festival approaching, prices for panels of various technologies are expected to remain stable."
