The leader of South Korea's SK Group said he met with NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US) CEO Jensen Huang to discuss ways of cooperation in various fields, including bringing artificial intelligence into the physical realm. SK Hynix, a subsidiary of the group, is the main supplier of advanced artificial intelligence storage chips for NVIDIA Corporation. Huang mentioned expanding artificial intelligence into more physical worlds to develop tools that can "reason, plan, and act." According to NVIDIA Corporation, this will change the trillion-dollar industry. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won said he told Huang at the meeting that Korea, as a manufacturing powerhouse, has unique advantages in collaborating with NVIDIA Corporation to drive the next leap in artificial intelligence. Chey also stated that SK Hynix's development speed of high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips exceeds NVIDIA Corporation's supply requirements, implying an increase in negotiation leverage with NVIDIA Corporation. Speaking at a press conference held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Chey discussed his meeting earlier that day with NVIDIA Corporation CEO Jensen Huang: "Until recently, SK Hynix's HBM development speed lagged behind NVIDIA Corporation's requirements, so they urged us to speed things up. (Huang and I) discussed and confirmed the HBM schedule that was set at a working level. The supply volume for this year has been determined, but I don't remember the specific numbers." Chey also met with reporters at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that day, stating that the two companies also discussed the use of high-bandwidth storage chips with NVIDIA Corporation's artificial intelligence accelerators. He mentioned that SK Hynix has been accelerating the development of next-generation HBM chips to meet the demands of NVIDIA Corporation, headquartered in Santa Clara, California. Both companies benefit from the favor of large corporations and governments for NVIDIA Corporation's chips, which are the gold standard for training artificial intelligence algorithms.
