On December 24th, China National Chemical Engineering and the Physical Power Industry Association announced that the export volume of lithium-ion batteries from China in the period of January to November 2024 was 3.563 billion units, an increase of 7.3% compared to the previous year; the export value of lithium-ion batteries from China in the same period was $55.074 billion, a decrease of 7.8% compared to the previous year. In November 2024, the export volume of lithium-ion batteries from China was 3.64 billion units, an increase of 24.8% compared to the previous year; the export value was $5.797 billion, an increase of 4.8% compared to the previous year. The United States remains the largest export market for lithium-ion batteries from China, with an export value of $13.403 billion in the period of January to November 2024, an increase of 8.7% compared to the previous year, accounting for 24.3% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports. The second largest market is Germany, with an export value of $9.504 billion, an increase of 10.7% compared to the previous year, accounting for 17.3% of China's lithium-ion battery exports; the third largest market is South Korea, with an export value of $3.452 billion, a decrease of 53% compared to the previous year, accounting for 6.3% of China's lithium-ion battery exports. In the period of January to November 2024, Fujian province remained the largest source of lithium-ion battery exports from China, with an export value of $15.154 billion, a decrease of 7.9% compared to the previous year, accounting for 27.5% of China's lithium-ion battery exports; the export volume was 2.31 billion units, an increase of 5.9%. Guangdong province ranked second, with an export value of $13.263 billion, a decrease of 6.6% compared to the previous year, accounting for 24.1% of China's lithium-ion battery exports; the export volume was 1.24 billion units, an increase of 12.7%. Jiangsu province ranked third, with an export value of $8.672 billion, a decrease of 29% compared to the previous year, accounting for 15.7% of China's lithium-ion battery exports; the export volume was 720 million units, a decrease of 6%. The export value of lithium-ion batteries from Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangsu provinces accounted for 67.3% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports. Among them, the three provinces with the largest year-on-year increase in export value from January to November 2024 were Hubei province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Liaoning province, with increases of 145%, 104.7%, and 18.9% respectively. The three provinces/cities with the largest year-on-year increase in export volume were Hubei province, Shanghai city, and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with year-on-year increases of 104.6%, 74.1%, and 51.1% respectively.
