On November 20th, the National Energy Administration released data on total electricity consumption for October. In October, total electricity consumption was 774.2 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 4.3% year-on-year. Looking at electricity usage by industry, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 10.6 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.1%; the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 533.7 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 2.7%; the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 136.7 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 8.4%; and the electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 93.2 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 8.1%.
From January to October, total electricity consumption accumulated to 81.836 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 7.6% year-on-year, with the electricity consumption of large-scale industrial enterprises reaching 78.027 billion kilowatt-hours. Looking at electricity usage by industry, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 11.41 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 6.7%; the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 52.721 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.6%; the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 15.315 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 11.0%; and the electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 12.659 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 12.3%.
