National Health Insurance Administration: Actively adapting to the application of artificial intelligence technology in the field of rehabilitation.
Project guidelines actively adapt to the application of artificial intelligence technology in the field of rehabilitation. Under the main project, an expanded item "Artificial Intelligence Assistance" is unanimously arranged, with both items being executed at the same price level, but no duplicate charges are allowed.
Recently, the National Medical Insurance Administration has formulated and issued the "Guidelines for the Establishment of Pricing Projects for Rehabilitation Medical Services (Trial)". The guidelines actively adapt to the application of artificial intelligence technology in the field of rehabilitation, and under the main project, a separate expansion item "Artificial Intelligence Assistance" is allocated at the same price level, but no duplicate charges are allowed. Hospitals can choose to train medical staff to provide rehabilitation services, or they can choose to use artificial intelligence technology to assist in conducting rehabilitation examinations or training in order to standardize and promote the accelerated entry of artificial intelligence assistance technology into clinical applications.

"Guidelines for the Establishment of Pricing Projects for Rehabilitation Medical Services (Trial)"
Compilation instructions: In order to implement the Pilot Scheme for Deepening Medical Service Price Reform, promote the standardized formulation of national medical service pricing projects, and following the working train of "mature a batch, release a batch", the National Medical Insurance Administration recently formulated and issued the "Guidelines for the Establishment of Pricing Projects for Rehabilitation Medical Services (Trial)", referring to the 2023 version of the technical specifications for medical service projects and mapping and integrating the current rehabilitation pricing projects into 17 items. Next steps will guide each provincial medical insurance administration to coordinate and implement, integrate and standardize rehabilitation medical service pricing projects, establish a unified pricing benchmark for the whole province, guide the pricing authorities in charge to compare with the province-wide pricing benchmark, and determine the actual price level through adjustments. The guidelines for rehabilitation focus on improving compatibility, strengthening standardization, and being close to clinical practice, presenting the following main features:
Firstly, emphasizing service output orientation. Rehabilitation projects are divided into two main categories: functional examinations and training, and separate items are established for different functional impairments such as consciousness, cognition, language, swallowing, movement, organs, and neurodevelopment. New projects can not only be compatible with existing pricing projects, but also facilitate the clinical transformation and application of more innovative rehabilitation technologies in the future.
Secondly, adapting to the advancement of medical technology. The guidelines actively adapt to the application of artificial intelligence technology in the field of rehabilitation, and under the main project, a separate expansion item "Artificial Intelligence Assistance" is allocated at the same price level, but no duplicate charges are allowed. Hospitals can choose to train medical staff to provide rehabilitation services, or they can choose to use artificial intelligence technology to assist in conducting rehabilitation examinations or training in a substitutive way to standardize and promote the accelerated entry of artificial intelligence assistance technology into clinical applications.
Thirdly, focusing on key populations. The guidelines focus on the population with neurodevelopmental disorders, separating the examination and training for "neurodevelopmental disorders" into a separate item to promote hospitals in filling the service supply gap, providing rehabilitation services for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, achieving early detection and intervention, restoring children's language, movement, and daily living abilities, and helping them integrate better into society.
