The 2024 Hurun Philanthropy List is released: Will Semiconductor's chairman Yu Renrong becomes China's top philanthropist for the first time.

On November 12, the Hurun Research Institute released the "2024 Hengchang Shao Fang - Hurun Philanthropy List". Will Semiconductor (603501.SH) founder Yu Renrong became China's top philanthropist for the first time with a donation of 5.3 billion yuan. Over the past year, Yu Renrong has donated Will Semiconductor shares three times to the Ningbo East University Education Foundation, totaling 500 million shares, to support the development of education. This is Yu Renrong's second consecutive appearance on the list, with his total donations exceeding 6 billion yuan.
Xiaomi (01810) founder Lei Jun ranked second with a donation amount of 1.3 billion yuan. Lei Jun donated 1.3 billion yuan in cash to his alma mater Wuhan University to support basic research in various disciplines, technological innovation in the computer field, and student education. This is Lei Jun's third time on the list and second time ranking in the top three, with his total donations exceeding 15 billion yuan.
Party Yanbao, Chairman of Ningxia Baofeng Group, ranked third with a donation amount of 600 million yuan. Party Yanbao donated 600 million yuan in cash to the Ningxia Yanbao Charity Foundation, mainly for education. This is Party Yanbao's 12th time on the list, with his total donations exceeding 3 billion yuan.
In terms of the birthplace of philanthropists on the list, Min business surpassed Yue business and ranked first this year, accounting for 24%, an increase of 13% from last year. The number of Yue businessmen decreased by 10%, accounting for 19% and ranking second.
In terms of the headquarters of companies, Beijing has the most companies, accounting for 38%, an increase of 23% from last year; Guangdong ranks second, accounting for 14%, a decrease of 24% from last year.
