The General Office of the State Council issued a notice of holiday arrangements for 2025: starting from January 1, 2025, all citizens will have 2 more days off, with an additional day for both the Spring Festival and Labor Day. This means that the Spring Festival and National Day in 2025 will have an 8-day long holiday, and Labor Day will have a 5-day long holiday. After the announcement, the search volume for flights during the 2025 Spring Festival period on the Ctrip platform increased by 1.7 times, and the search volume for flights on New Year's Eve increased by 2.5 times. According to current booking conditions, on New Year's Eve, users in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Hangzhou and other cities have booked a high number of flights. Some users have taken a 4-day leave from February 5th to 8th, creating a 13-day long holiday. Consumers in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Chongqing and other cities have already started booking return flights on February 9th, preparing for a 13-day long holiday. According to the current booking data on Ctrip, popular domestic destinations for Spring Festival travel include Shanghai, Beijing, Harbin, Guangzhou, Sanya, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Shenzhen, while popular international destinations include Tokyo, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, and Singapore. Additionally, domestic winter getaway destinations like Sanya, Kunming, and Lijiang have seen a search volume increase of over 60%. Analyst Wang Yalei from Ctrip Research Institute said: "Holidays are important nodes for driving tourism, transportation, dining, and other consumer spending. In 2024, domestic travel and spending during holidays such as Labor Day and National Day reached record highs. The increase of 2 days in statutory holidays in 2025 is a popular move. Moreover, the notice emphasizes that apart from special circumstances, the statutory holidays before and after the holidays should generally not exceed 6 days of continuous work, which means that the issue of 'holiday adjustment' that has troubled the public will be alleviated. In particular, the 8-day long holidays for National Day and Spring Festival will help to unleash enthusiasm for holiday travel and allow travelers to choose off-peak travel options, easing the pressure of concentrated holiday travel."
