The China Charging Alliance released the operation status of the national electric vehicle charging and swapping infrastructure in October 2024. From January to October, the increment of charging infrastructure was 3.288 million units, and the domestic sales volume of new energy vehicles was 8.692 million units, with both the charging infrastructure and new energy vehicles continuing to grow rapidly. The ratio of charging piles to vehicles is 1:2.6, and the construction of charging infrastructure can basically meet the rapid development of new energy vehicles.
Regarding the operation status of public charging infrastructure, in October 2024, there was an increase of 63,000 public charging piles compared to September 2024, representing a 34.3% year-on-year growth. By October 2024, a total of 3.391 million public charging piles were reported by member units of the alliance, with 1.535 million DC charging piles and 1.855 million AC charging piles. From November 2023 to October 2024, an average of around 72,000 public charging piles were added each month.
Regarding the operation status of public charging infrastructure at the provincial, regional, and municipal levels, the top 10 regions of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shandong, Hubei, Anhui, Henan, Sichuan, and Beijing accounted for 69.2% of the public charging piles constructed. The majority of the charging electricity in the country is concentrated in provinces such as Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Fujian, Henan, and Shaanxi, with the majority of the electricity being used by buses and private cars, while vehicles such as sanitation trucks and taxis have a smaller share. In October 2024, the total electricity consumption for charging nationwide was around 50.0 billion kWh, a decrease of 0.4 billion kWh from the previous month, a year-on-year increase of 55.6%, and a month-on-month decline of 0.9%.
Regarding the operation status of public charging infrastructure operators, as of October 2024, the top 15 charging operators in the country were as follows: TELD operating 651,000 chargers, StarCharge operating 595,000 chargers, YKSE operating 567,000 chargers, State Grid operating 196,000 chargers, JuicePower operating 191,000 chargers, U-JU operated 189,000 chargers, Southern Power Grid operated 90,000 chargers, Shenzhen Vehicle Power Network operated 88,000 chargers, HC operated 87,000 chargers, EV Energy operated 78,000 chargers, WanChengWanChong operated 54,000 chargers, Blue Sky Fast Charging operated 51,000 chargers, JY operated 41,000 chargers, Kunlun Network Electric operated 39,000 chargers, and WanMa Love Charging operated 37,000 chargers. These 15 operators accounted for 87.1% of the total, while the remaining operators accounted for 12.9%.
Regarding the overall operation status of the charging infrastructure, from January to October 2024, the increment of charging infrastructure was 3.288 million units, a year-on-year increase of 19.8%. Of this, the increment of public charging piles was 665,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 8.6%, while the increment of privately owned charging piles was 2.623 million units, a year-on-year increase of 30.1%. By October 2024, the total number of charging infrastructure nationwide was 11.884 million units, a year-on-year increase of 49.4%.
