During the attendance of the Hong Kong business community symposium in 2024, the Chairman of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Chen Ruijuan, stated that the Chamber will continue to do well in both internal and external aspects. Externally, the Chamber will leverage its network advantage to strengthen international connections through delegations, study tours, and seminars, and tell the story of Hong Kong well. Internally, it will continue to provide advice to the Hong Kong SAR government and offer professional training on artificial intelligence, automation, and supply chain projects to assist the business sector in preparing for digital transformation and help employees transition smoothly to the new economic landscape, adding new momentum to the development of Hong Kong, the mainland, and the regional economy.
During the meeting chaired by the Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, Xia Baolong, he made some specific suggestions to the Hong Kong business community and emphasized the need to take the initiative to fully utilize the "one country, two systems" advantage to enhance Hong Kong's status as an international financial, logistics, and trading center. He also urged entrepreneurs to actively explore new industries such as ShenZhen New Industries Biomedical Engineering and new formats to promote the diversification of Hong Kong's economy and cultivate new economic growth drivers.
Chen Ruijuan expressed after the meeting that the discussions were pragmatic and in-depth, and participants collectively explored how to better harness the power of the business sector to assist in policy-making and reform. The development of Hong Kong is closely linked to that of the country, and this meeting demonstrates the central government's high regard for the development and well-being of Hong Kong. Hong Kong must build the three major harbors of land, sea, and air, enhance its status as a transportation hub, and contribute to the overall development of the country.
