On September 30, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange released China's international investment position table as of June 2024. As of June 2024, China's foreign financial assets were 979.29 billion US dollars, foreign liabilities were 680.46 billion US dollars, and net foreign assets were 298.83 billion US dollars.
Among the foreign financial assets, direct investment assets were 302.39 billion US dollars, securities investment assets were 123.53 billion US dollars, financial derivative assets were 2.19 billion US dollars, other investment assets were 205.79 billion US dollars, and reserve assets were 345.39 billion US dollars, accounting for 31%, 13%, 0.2%, 21%, and 35% of foreign financial assets respectively.
In terms of foreign liabilities, direct investment liabilities were 34.877 billion US dollars, securities investment liabilities were 18.577 billion US dollars, financial derivative liabilities were 2.95 billion US dollars, and other investment liabilities were 14.297 billion US dollars, accounting for 51%, 27%, 0.4%, and 21% of foreign liabilities respectively.
Based on the Special Drawing Rights (SDR) valuation, as of June 2024, China's foreign financial assets were 744.51 billion SDR, foreign liabilities were 517.33 billion SDR, and net foreign assets were 227.19 billion SDR.
