The Hong Kong Tourism Commission stated that based on the latest information provided by the industry, it is estimated that there will be approximately 925 mainland Chinese inbound tour groups visiting Hong Kong during this year's Chinese National Day Golden Week, with an average of about 132 groups per day, involving approximately 36,000 travelers. Most of the mainland Chinese inbound tourists during the Golden Week will visit Hong Kong as "individual travelers", while tour group travelers tend to choose off-peak times to visit. Recently, the Hong Kong Tourism Commission, together with the customs, conducted inspections at registered shops and shopping hotspots in Tsim Sha Tsui, To Kwa Wan, Hung Hom, and Kowloon Bay areas to strengthen the protection of the rights and interests of inbound tour group travelers. Earlier this month, the Hong Kong Tourism Commission, along with representatives from the Tourism Department and several government departments, visited Star Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui and nearby piers providing Victoria Harbour tour services, and inspected registered shops and dining places for inbound tour groups in To Kwa Wan to assess the management arrangements for optimizing the flow of people. Regarding many mainland Chinese inbound tour groups including the University of Hong Kong in their itinerary, the Hong Kong Tourism Commission pointed out that since July this year, they have been in close communication with relevant travel agents and, last month, coordinated with the Western District Police to instruct tourist buses to drop off passengers at appropriate locations along Pok Fu Lam Road near HKU, to ensure that the activities of mainland Chinese inbound tour groups can proceed in an orderly and proper manner, reducing the impact on the community and residents. The Hong Kong Tourism Commission also mentioned that during the Chinese National Day Golden Week holiday, they will deploy additional personnel to patrol the locations of more inbound tour group activities, including major entry points, registered shops, popular tourist attractions, and dining places visited by inbound tour groups.
