Hong Kong Immigration Department: More than 10 million people are expected to enter and exit Hong Kong during the National Day holiday.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department stated that during the National Day holiday from September 28 to October 7, including Hong Kong residents and visitors, approximately 10.03 million people are expected to enter and exit Hong Kong through various sea, land, and air control points, with around 8.54 million people using land border control points. The peak periods for land border exits and entries are both on October 1 (Tuesday), with approximately 523,000 exits and 632,000 entries. The Hong Kong Immigration Department estimates that the Lo Wu Control Point, Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point, and Shenzhen Bay Control Point will be very busy, with an average of approximately 208,000, 185,000, and 118,000 people entering and exiting daily, respectively. The Hong Kong Immigration Department pointed out that frontline staff have had their leaves reduced to allow for flexible deployment of personnel, additional inspection counters and lanes have been opened to manage the flow of people and vehicles, more security personnel will be deployed to help maintain order at the border crossings, a joint command center will be established at the Lo Wu Control Point with the police, customs, and MTR Corporation, and close contact will be maintained with mainland Chinese authorities such as the Shenzhen Border Inspection Administration to closely monitor the flow of people and take appropriate measures to ensure smooth border crossings when necessary.
