Broadcom Inc. (AVGO.US) has not evaluated the acquisition offer made to Intel Corporation (INTC.US).
Insiders revealed that Broadcom is not currently evaluating making a takeover offer to Intel.
According to media reports citing sources familiar with the matter last Saturday, Broadcom Inc. (AVGO.US) had previously evaluated a potential bid for Intel Corporation (INTC.US), and advisors are continuing to provide suggestions to Broadcom Inc. However, the latest news indicates that sources have revealed that Broadcom Inc. is currently not considering making a takeover offer to Intel Corporation.
In addition, reports on Friday indicated that Qualcomm (QCOM.US) has recently been in contact with Intel Corporation and is in talks with the latter regarding a potential acquisition. However, it is currently unclear what Intel Corporation's response is, as well as the terms or price of the acquisition. Sources say that Qualcomm executives are very interested in Intel Corporation's client personal computer design business, but they are considering all of the company's design departments. Intel Corporation is currently working to generate cash and is seeking to divest business segments and sell other assets.
If the acquisition is successful, it would be one of the largest acquisitions in technology history. However, such a large acquisition comes with great uncertainty, even if both parties are interested, it will still have to undergo strict antitrust scrutiny. It is worth mentioning that even if Broadcom Inc. plans to acquire Intel Corporation, the deal would also face regulatory challenges, as Broadcom Inc.'s plan to acquire Qualcomm was blocked by the US government in March 2018 on national security grounds.
